MAKE THEM PAY, Out Today!

on March 7, 2017

When I first started writing the Lucy Kincaid series, I didn’t plan on how many books I would write, but if someone told me I would have 12 books in this series I don’t know that I would have believed them.

But I do. As of today.

Make Them Pay-3MAKE THEM PAY is the culmination of what I thought this series could be. Lucy has grown from an insecure wannabe FBI agent who questioned her instincts and struggled to move on from a troubled past and feared she could never love; into a mature, confident FBI agent who has found the capacity to love and be loved.

RT Book Reviews Top Pick!

Over the course of Brennan’s fantastic Lucy Kincaid series, readers have not only been treated to intricate and gripping suspense, but also the evolution of a complex relationship. At last Lucy Kincaid and Sean Rogan are about to tie the knot, but of course things cannot go smoothly. This time the threat is coming from within the Rogan family, which magnifies the treachery. By utilizing absorbing plots and building layered characters over the course of this outstanding series, Brennan keeps demonstrating she is one amazingly talented storyteller!

When I started writing the series I wanted to show the evolution of a new FBI agent. So many series have experienced, seasoned agents and detectives. What about someone who is just starting out? Who has to get into the FBI, pass the classes, and be at the bottom of the pecking order as a rookie?

It has been so much fun writing showing Lucy gaining her confidence and becoming the woman she is in Make Them Pay. Having Sean as her lover has been an added bonus … he’s fun, smart, a somewhat reformed bad boy who isn’t above breaking the rules if it’s for a greater good.

While character is important — and I’d argue the most important aspect of a story — I’ve also explored many criminal issues, getting into the hearts and minds of those who have chosen to be bad. In the Lucy series I’ve explored the sale of black market babies, the sex trade, psychopathic serial killers, revenge killings, money laundering, gun running, prostitution, blackmail, and a host of other crimes and psychopathies.

Is it wrong to have so much fun writing about evil? I sure hope not!

lostgirlsMake Them Pay is loosely connected to The Lost Girls (November, 2016) because actions in the previous book set up the events in this book — but it’s clear enough if you haven’t gotten to The Lost Girls that you can pick up Make Them Pay and catch up real quick.

Make Them Pay resolves the issues of what happened to set Liam and Eden Rogan, the twins who live in Europe, down a dark and dangerous path. We learn why, we learn how, and we learn about secrets that families keep — the good, the bad and the very ugly. Like Stolen, this is more Sean’s book as he has to face the truth about people he loves and people he thought he knew. Make Them Pay is an ending … and a beginning. And in many ways, just as emotional a journey for Lucy and Sean — and Kane — as The Lost Girls.

There will be two more books in the Lucy Kincaid series next year, this time focusing on the bigger world around Lucy (including JT Caruso and his sister Bella!) For now, I really hope you enjoy Sean and Lucy’s latest adventure.

From the cover:

In Allison Brennan’s Make Them Pay, Lucy Kincaid and Sean Rogan are finally tying the knot. Two weeks before their wedding, a surprise visitor shows up at their door: Eden, Sean’s estranged sister from Europe. She claims she’s in town for the wedding and wants to mend fences. Lucy invites Eden to stay with them—after all, family is family—but her boss, SSA Noah Armstrong, knows far more about Eden’s sketchy past than he’s let on.

While Lucy is focused on her investigation tracking down dozens of children sold through illegal adoptions, Noah begins a quiet investigation of Eden and her elusive twin, Liam. He’s certain that, since they’re both thieves, they’re here for a job or a heist. But they are up to something far more sinister than even Noah can imagine.

Liam has a score to settle with his family, and Sean has something he wants. The twins will do anything to get it—including putting Lucy’s life in danger. It’ll take everyone—Kincaids and Rogans alike—to stop Liam before someone dies. Unfortunately, Liam’s treachery has unforeseen consequences for Sean and Lucy, as a longtime enemy of the Rogan family hellbent on revenge sees an opportunity to make them all pay…
