MAKE THEM PAY, Out Today!

on March 7, 2017

When I first started writing the Lucy Kincaid series, I didn’t plan on how many books I would write, but if someone told me I would have 12 books in this series I don’t know that I would have believed them. But I do. As of today. MAKE THEM PAY is the culmination of what I thought this series could be. Lucy has grown from an insecure wannabe FBI agent who questioned her instincts and struggled to move on from a troubled past and feared she could never love; into a mature, confident FBI agent who has found the capacity to… Read More

MAKE THEM PAY — A Top Pick!

on January 27, 2017

RT Book Reviews just published their March on-line edition … and MAKE THEM PAY received a Top Pick! I’m thrilled because I love this story and, considering that it’s Sean and Lucy’s 12th book, it still resonated and touched all the right notes. Yeah! Here’s what the reviewer, Jill Smith, said: Over the course of Brennan’s fantastic Lucy Kincaid series, readers have not only been treated to intricate and gripping suspense, but also the evolution of a complex relationship. At last Lucy Kincaid and Sean Rogan are about to tie the knot, but of course things cannot go smoothly. This time… Read More

Notes and Thoughts about SHATTERED

on January 17, 2017

This weekend, I finished editing my copy edits for SHATTERED, the 4th Maxine Revere cold case mystery (on sale 8.22.17.) I received them on Monday the 9th, but didn’t sit down to work on them until Thursday … and finished them in three days. Trust me when I say I never get through copy edits so quickly. I was worried, so I spent Sunday and Monday morning going through them a second time because for certain I had missed something. I made a few more tweaks, but in the end, I’m very, very happy with this book and will be… Read More

Deliver Us From Evil

on January 9, 2017

As my long-time readers know, my publisher cancelled my Seven Deadly Sins series after two books. While some readers loved the supernatural thriller series, it didn’t find its audience — unlike my more successful crime thrillers. Publishing is a business — I get that — but I was still disappointed because I loved this series and I loved these characters. I put it aside and started the Lucy Kincaid series — which is still going strong. The 12th book, MAKE THEM PAY, will be out in March!   While writing these two books nearly killed my career — and I don’t… Read More

NO GOOD DEED: Lucy Kincaid #10

on November 3, 2015

NO GOOD DEED, the tenth book in the Lucy Kincaid/Sean Rogan romantic thriller series, is out today … I hope you enjoy it! I love this book. I shouldn’t say that because I don’t want to jinx sales, but this is my favorite to date. A few reasons: though it’s the longest Lucy/Sean book (128K words), it’s the fastest paced. It’s a race against time (which I love in books and movies) to find former DEA Agent Nicole Rollins who escapes in the first chapter. When I was writing it I didn’t realize how long it was … it didn’t… Read More

NOTORIOUS, Part Two

on December 30, 2014

I know the mass market paperback world very well. I’ve had 22 mass market originals released … not including novellas in anthologies. I write the book, I revise the book, it goes through an editor, a copy editor, and a proofreader or two, is printed the month before the release date, warehoused, and distributed. I’ve been fortunate that my publishers have, for the most part, been able to prevent too many sales prior to the on-sale date, which helps with opening week sales numbers, which helps with list placement. I understand the process and, even with the rapid and rabid… Read More

So, it’s been awhile

on November 24, 2014

I have so many things to blog about … but no time to blog! Daughter finished up Winter Ball softball, now in soccer … son finished up football, now in basketball … I lost my extra drivers to college … and then of course WRITING! BOUCHERCON 2014 I attended by first Bouchercon! I had a panel and an impromptu panel (lead by Charlaine Harris and Sara Paretsky!) and I got to meet Sue Grafton (briefly — but it was worth it!) Isn’t she beautiful and gracious? And totally, completely “real” and unpretentious. I could write much more about the conference,… Read More

Truth is Stranger than Fiction

on October 13, 2014

I’ve been quiet for the last few weeks because: 1) I took my #2 daughter to college. College prep, then driving and getting her settled, then coming home and catching up … took time. Lots of time. 2) Writing! Yes, writing is keeping me very busy. Last year I didn’t have as many tight deadlines; this year they seem to have crept up on me. But I finished the edits on MORTAL SIN, have been writing the next Lucy book (and having great fun!) and am expecting the page proofs for COMPULSION, the next Max book, this week. 3) Sports… Read More
